Toronto is the road favorite, with current prices generally placing the club between -145 and -164 on the moneyline. A separate model gives the Maple Leafs a 55.4% chance to win, which suggests an edge but not a runaway projection.

Toronto Arrives With Confidence

The Maple Leafs produced their most impressive result of the season Saturday, defeating Edmonton 7-2 at Rogers Place. Anthony Stolarz made 30 saves, while Toronto received goals from Jack Roslovic, Auston Matthews, Troy Stecher, Zack MacEwen, and Vinni Lettieri.

William Nylander added two goals, including the 300th of his NHL career. He reached that milestone in 763 games, making him the fourth-fastest Swedish player to record 300 NHL goals. Nylander has now scored eight times this season.

Toronto’s scoring depth has been matched by strong special-teams work. The power play is operating near 30%, and the penalty kill had denied 30 consecutive opposing opportunities before Edmonton finally scored on a late chance Saturday. The Leafs have also gone 12-2-1 at Rogers Place since the Oilers began playing there.

Milestones Add to Toronto’s Offensive Pressure

Matthews is one point away from 800 in his career. A goal or assist in Calgary would make him the fastest player in Maple Leafs history to reach that total and the third-fastest American skater in NHL history.

The Toronto captain has nine goals in 13 games. He enters Monday with a five-game road scoring streak, matching Calgary’s Kirill Marchenko for the longest active road point run noted in the matchup projections.

Nylander and Matthews are also the leading anytime-goal candidates. Early projections put Matthews at about 38% and Nylander near 37%, while listed prices were +120 and +155, respectively.

Calgary’s Best Route to an Upset

The Flames have steadied themselves after a difficult opening stretch, and home ice gives them an opportunity to challenge a deeper Toronto lineup. Calgary’s clearest advantage would come from controlling the pace, limiting odd-man rushes, and forcing the Leafs to create offense through extended five-on-five possessions.

Discipline will be essential. Toronto’s power play is dangerous enough to change the game quickly, so Calgary cannot afford to give Matthews, Nylander, and the rest of the top unit repeated opportunities.

Calgary has generated shots but has not consistently converted them into goals. Matthew Coronato has two goals in 10 games, while Aydar Suniev and Joel Farabee also appear among the Flames-related scoring options in pregame projections.

Total Goals and Key Matchup Factors

The 6.5-goal total presents a split statistical picture. Toronto games have gone above that number in eight of 13 contests, while Calgary has seen only four of 10 games finish over 6.5. The teams average 6.2 combined goals per game, and one model leans under, although another projects approximately 6.6 goals.

The opening period could shape the entire contest. An early Toronto lead would force Calgary to abandon its preferred measured tempo, while a quiet first period would give the Flames a better chance to keep the game close and protect home ice.

Matthews’ pursuit of 800 points, Nylander’s milestone momentum, and Calgary’s current winning streak make this more than a routine interconference game. Betting lines can move before puck drop, so verify the latest price and wager only within a responsible limit.
